CMS Administrator Seema Verma announces new leadership team for value-based transformation
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have appointed and promoted a team that will focus on value-based care and coverage initiatives.
CMS Administrator Seema Verma announced that Paul Mango, McKinsey & Company senior partner and 2017 Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate will be chief of staff and chief principal deputy administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Verma promoted Deputy Chief of Staff, Brady Brookes to a concurrent role as deputy administrator. Brady will also continue to look into day-to-day operations and strategically counsel the Office of the Administrator as mentioned by Verma.
Verma said that President Trump and Secretary Azar have chalked out an ambitious plan to strengthen the Medicare and Medicaid programs for Americans. This is a big responsibility and the team will have a critical role to play in accomplishing these goals.
Chris Traylor, who has led consulting in hospital operations and finance for Advanced Perspectives Group, is appointed as deputy administrator for strategic initiatives.
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said that the newly appointed team will assist and guide CMS to build on its progress on HHS priorities including value-based transformation and increasing consumer choice for healthcare coverage.
