Methodist Charlton Medical Center designated as first trauma center in Southern Dallas

Hospitals are set on the path of further progress with the introduction of value-based healthcare system, telehealth, patient engagement software, etc. Also, some hospitals are working towards improving patient care facilities.

Dallas-based Methodist Charlton Medical Center has been designated as a Level III advanced trauma facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services. This will increase access to critical care for patients in Southern Dallas.

Methodist Charlton is a part of Methodist Health System and has the only trauma center in the city’s southern sector. It is a 10-hospital system based in Dallas. This trauma center will have a trained trauma team. It will also get the necessary equipment to treat patients with critical injuries, which includes falls, gunshot wounds and car crashes.

Jeffrey Butterfield, MD, medical director of the hospital's emergency department said that becoming a designated trauma facility acknowledges the quality of care that the hospital provides and its dedication to the community in which they serve. This designation brings a much greater focus on trauma care. He said these designations are not handed out, they are earned and they are extremely proud of their outstanding trauma team for earning this recognition.
