Interoperability is rapidly advancing and a report from Surescripts, which is a national health information network, reflects this progress in the healthcare system as it shows strong growth in the health data transactions.
Surescripts saw 13.7 billion increase in the secure health data transactions across its network in the previous year; a 26% increase over 2016.
The 2017 National Progress Reports of Surescripts reveals that the network has spread its facilities beyond electronic prescribing. Now, 1.47 million healthcare professionals are a part of its exchange network and they access health data for 233 million patients. This records for 71% of the U.S. population.
Apart from interoperability the report reflected an improvement in other categories as well. Surescripts has a nationwide network and works in the healthcare sector to offer a portfolio of solutions that work together to improve prescribing, advance healthcare and inform care decisions.
Superscript shows 26% increase in prescription accuracy across the network and 77% of all prescriptions were delivered electronically. Infact, Surescripts’ feature, Record Locator & Exchange was used by more than 50,000 clinicians across the country to view patients’ history in their EHR workflow. Clinicians accessed and exchanged around 16 million clinical documents and 65 million documents summarizing the prior care received by the patient.
